Last week, I dared you to dream…and dared you to dream big. I hope you came up with some really extravagant dreams, especially around your health! Now what? This is where goals come into play – to help make your dreams a reality. Here are a few questions to ask yourself as you develop those goals and solidify steps to turn your dream into a reality:
- How long do you think your dream will take you to accomplish? Is it something that you can accomplish in a week? If so, it may not be big enough. Is it something that will take several years? That can feel really overwhelming and keep you from even starting. At the end of this year, what would you be satisfied with achieving toward that big dream? Take a step back from that, and ask yourself the same question about six months from now. Now flip that question on its head: how would you feel in 6 months if you haven’t made any progress toward your dream? Hold onto that feeling and use it as motivation.
- Break your longer term goal down into even smaller chunks. What do you need to accomplish this quarter, month, week to keep you on track? What do you need to start doing today?
- Now start! Pick one action item at a time, and get into the routine of doing it. Then add something else in. Before long, you will have a cascade of these small steps that add up to a BIG change. If you follow this framework, your mind will be blown by how much progress you’ve made toward accomplishing your goal when you reflect on how far you’ve come at the end of the year.
What is the first thing you are going to do to propel you forward toward achieving your biggest health dreams?
